Study on herpes virus might lead to cure for cold sores

The genetic material, which is generated during the virus' inactive state, works by targeting the genes necessary for active replication, the study's lead investigator said. Researchers said they are testing an experimental treatment that can block LAT RNA to cure patients from infection.
