Experts count on next U.S. president to bolster stem cell research

Scientists at the World Stem Cell Summit in Madison, Wis., are looking to the next U.S. president to back efforts to relax restrictions on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research. Democratic nominee Sen. Barack Obama has said he favors such research, but one expert said he is concerned that recent statements from Republican candidate Sen. John McCain suggest that his support may have declined.
