Orthopedic firms plan to integrate RFID with implants
The orthopedics sector is working to incorporate RFID technology into implants to help surgeons monitor the devices' behavior inside the body and get feedback should a problem occur. FDA approval for wireless implants, however, may take five to seven years, an R&D official with OsteoLign said.
