Kajima used cheap gravel at Haneda

Kajima Corp., one of Japan's five largest general contractors, is suspected of using low-priced gravel in the construction of a new runway at Tokyo's Haneda airport and making unfair profits, land ministry officials said Friday. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism plans to soon file a complaint with police against Kajima on suspicion of fraud, the officials said. At Petrofac's West Don field, Stratic now considers that 2009 gross production from the field will be approximately 1.75 million barrels of oil (mmbbls) (Stratic share: 0.30 mmbbls), compared with its previous estimate of 2.1 mmbbls (Stratic share: 0.36 mmbbls). The reduction reflects continuing gas lift and water injection performance below expectation. TORONTO, Nov 6 (Reuters) - SNC-Lavalin Group Inc reported a 13 percent rise in quarterly profit on Friday, mainly due to an expected increase in gross margins in its packages division. The Canadian engineering and construction company said net earnings rose to C$103.1 million ($96.4 million), or 68 Canadian cents a share, for the three months ended Sept. 30, from C$91.3 million, or 60 Canadian cents a share, in the year-before quarter....
