The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee will "focus on strengthening America’s national transportation network to make us more efficient, more competitive and more prosperous," said Rep. Bill Shuster, R-Pa., the panel's new chairman. The committee's agenda will focus on passing new bills to fund waterways and rail programs. Shuster also said that getting ready for reauthorization of surface transportation programs "will be a priority of the committee."
