Hospital construction guidelines to require private rooms

New guidelines in hospital design expected next month will have the minimum requirement that most new hospitals include single-patient rooms. The guidelines apply only to new construction. But they will influence a significant proportion of the nation's approximately 6,000 hospitals, which are already launching a building boom.
