Small towns in Colorado are struggling to deal with crumbing buildings contaminated with asbestos. Landfills that can handle the substance and contractors with the expertise to remove it are often located far away. The cost of asbestos removal can decimate a town's budget, leaving officials in the position of emptying their coffers or leaving dangerous buildings standing.
