Column: Commercial construction spending will continue slide
Commercial construction spending will decline by an additional 4% to 5% from August through the winter of 2010, Jim Haughey writes. He expects a 10% drop in spending for hotel construction over the next nine months and noted that a building trend for casinos and destination hotels led to a "boom-bust" cycle. Meanwhile, he expects retail construction spending to rise 5% next year.
