CDC officials reported Wednesday that about 5,245 people have been affected by the West Nile virus outbreak, and the death toll has reached 236. Forty-eight states and Washington, D.C., have documented cases, but the outbreak has been concentrated in 11 states with 1,714 in Texas alone.
