A bill signed into law last week by President Barack Obama gives the FDA greater oversight over compounding pharmacies and establishes a national tracking system for the drug supply chain. The Drug Quality and Security Act gives drugmakers four years to put serial numbers on all drug packages, and they must eventually upgrade to electronic codes.
