Bundled provider payments seen as way to reduce costs

Bundled provider payments are getting attention in the health care reform debate as a way to encourage physicians and hospitals to work together to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Medicare pilot programs are paying hospitals and physicians just one reimbursement for all care provided to certain patients, such as those receiving heart or joint procedures.
