Nine in 10 U.S. adults are aware that antibiotics can treat bacterial infections, but more than a third mistakenly believe that these drugs can cure viral infections, such as the common cold, a CDC poll found. Forty-one percent of the respondents said they had been told very little or nothing at all about antibiotic resistance.
