FAA and USAF chiefs discuss UAS challenges

AIA launches cyber security information center

AIA views equipage as infrastructure investment

In a speech on air traffic modernization, AIA President and CEO Marion Blakey said industry and government should work together to implement NextGen over the next 3 to 5 years, vs. the currently planned 10 to 15 years. She also said we should change the way we look at aircraft equipage, and that it is just as much a part of our national airspace system infrastructure as airports, runways and satellites. AIA sees new manufacturing niche

In recent remarks to the Wichita Aero Club, AIA President Marion Blakey said that AIA sees a trend in how the Defense Department is buying systems that can be procured quickly, are relatively inexpensive and based on existing platforms -- something that the business aviation community should keep an eye on. She also said that despite the recent economic tsunami hitting this sector, the industry is in a very strong position. Read more here (PDF).
