Congress urged to step back from military acquisition dealings

Congress should end its hands-on approach to major military acquisition dealings and assume more of a supervisory role like a corporate board of directors, Norm Augustine, the former CEO of Lockheed Martin, said at a July 27 press conference at the Washington office of Business Executives for National Security. "The government's role would become more one of oversight, once the requirements are developed, rather than active day-to-day participation," Augustine suggested.
