Using spectroscopy to expose fraudulent malaria drugs
Scientists at King’s College London have shown that a spectroscopic technique similar to nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy can be used to uncover counterfeit antimalarial drugs sold in developing countries. The process, called nuclear quadrupole resonance, uses radio waves to penetrate the packaging of the drug Metakelfin to determine whether it is authentic.
