Positive developments in U.S. economy driving plastics growth, experts say
Recent positive changes in the U.S. economic outlook are "terrific" for the plastics industry, said IHS Chemical Chief Economist Nariman Behravesh. The renewed optimism led to significant growth, resulting in $373 billion of plastic good shipments in 2012, said Society of the Plastics Industry President Bill Carteaux. Exports and machinery sales have recovered sharply, moving the industry "from zero to 100 mph very quickly," he added.
