Report: Climate change threatens oil, other energy sources
The government should pursue innovative technologies and initiatives fortifying the energy infrastructure as flooding and other risks associated with climate change pose a significant risk to the country's oil and natural gas wells, hydroelectric dams and other power sources, according to a report from the Department of Energy. "We don't have a robust energy system, and the costs are significant," said Jonathan Pershing, deputy assistant energy secretary for climate change. "The cost today is measured in the billions. Over the coming decades, it will be in the trillions. You can't just put your head in the sand anymore."
