Ethanol producers see opportunity in biochemical market
Taking a double hit from high corn prices and diminished demand for fuel, some ethanol makers are considering retooling their plants to make biochemicals. Shifting gears will take some time, says industry group spokesman Matt Hartwig. "We're not going to go from 1.0 to 2.0," he says. "There's going to be 1.2, 1.5, 1.7 in between."
