Defense officials are expected to confirm planned changes to Tricare benefits for tens of thousands of military retirees and their dependents that will take effect during 2013. Individuals living more than 40 miles from a military treatment center will soon be forced to shift from Tricare Prime to Tricare Standard coverage, resulting in higher out-of-pocket costs for those who need regular access to services.
