Budget would give HHS more money for nursing education

The fiscal 2010 HHS budget approved by the House Appropriations Committee includes an additional $137 million over last year for nursing education and training. The bill contains $530 million for reducing the health care work force shortage and $92 million is earmarked for educating and training nurses in all areas of health care. The budget also includes $34 million more than last year -- $204 million total -- for reducing hospital-acquired infections.
