Stronger nursing profession key to health reform
A stronger nursing workforce is necessary to achieve real health care reform, especially through improved access to care and cost containment, according to Sandy Summers, executive director of The Truth About Nursing. She said the U.S. also must overcome stereotypes that portray nurses as simply physician helpers, because nurses could do far more for patients if they had the proper resources and respect.
