Lockheed 12A receives starring role in "Amelia"
Pilot Joe Shepherd's Lockheed 12A Electra Junior received a starring role in "Amelia." The plane plays the role of the one Amelia Earhart used during her 1937 attempt to fly around the world, in which she vanished. While Earhart flew a slightly different model, the Lockheed 10, none in existence remains airworthy. Shepherd, a retired pilot for Northwest Airlines, restored the plane over an 18-year period.
