Laser wielder gets prison time in California airport case
A California man has been sentenced to 2 1/2 years in federal prison for shining a laser beam into the cockpit of two jets landing at John Wayne Airport in Southern California. Dana Christian Welch is the first person to receive jail time on federal charges of using a laser to interfere with pilots.
