Polls show support for fracking in N.Y., Pa.
Two recent polls of residents from New York and Pennsylvania showed growing support for hydraulic fracturing. A Siena College survey found that about 50% of residents of New York City and suburban areas favor upstate drilling, compared with 32% who are against development. A University of Pittsburgh Center for Social and Urban Research poll, meanwhile, found that about 49% of respondents strongly or somewhat support a gas drilling boom in Washington County, Pa.
