Nearly 30% of oil, gas production in Gulf of Mexico shut down due to Ida

Tropical Storm Ida has prompted U.S. energy companies to close down 29.6% of oil output and 27.5% of natural gas production in the Gulf of Mexico. Employees from eight drilling rigs and 126 production platforms were also evacuated as the storm passes through the area, the Minerals Management Service said.
