New Miami superintendent faces divided board

Alberto Carvalho faces many challenges as the new superintendent of Miami-Dade schools, but working with the fractured school board could be the most difficult, some observers say. After firing superintendent Rudy Crew, the board voted last week to offer the job to Carvalho on a 5 to 3 vote.
