19 Louisiana school districts opt out of "career track" diplomas

Louisiana has granted 19 school districts a waiver from having to participate in the state's new "career track" diploma program for the upcoming school year. In an effort to reduce the state's 35% dropout rate, schools were allowed to relax state academic requirements for students who decided to pursue technical and vocational courses. But some critics say the new diploma relaxes academic standards too much.
