Florida clarifies stance on equivalency diplomas

The Florida Department of Education announced Monday that students currently enrolled in a dropout-prevention program will receive standard high-school diplomas, calming parents and educators. An earlier decree from the state said such diplomas would no longer be issued to students in the program. State officials clarified that students joining the program this school year and thereafter will receive equivalency diplomas.
