A $1.1 billion project on New York City's Lower East Side called Essex Crossing is scheduled to break ground by spring 2015. The project -- which will include affordable and market-rate housing, a school, hotel, market area, community center and more -- could create 4,400 construction jobs. The complex will be designed by SHoP Architects and Beyer Blinder Belle.
