American Bridge/Fluor crews at work on the $6.3 billion Bay Bridge in California have moved the 35,200-ton single-tower suspension span from temporary supports and attached it to 200 suspension cables. The bridge is scheduled to open by Labor Day. "Completion of the load transfer led to a big collective sigh of relief from all the engineers," Metropolitan Transportation Commission Executive Director Steve Heminger said.
