Design non-building structures to meet ASCE 7-10's seismic requirements
Any engineer who has explored Chapter 15 of ASCE 7-10 has noticed that the requirements for the seismic design of non-building structures are quite different from those for building structures. The engineer has some latitude to design cost-effective non-building structures using “outside-the-box” concepts, as these types of structures often lack well-defined solutions. ASCE’s new seminar, Designing Non-Building Structures Using ASCE 7-10, will help you develop efficient non-building structures that comply with 7-10. While the focus is given to seismic design, other loading conditions such as machine vibration and wind pressure also will be addressed. Design principles are well-illustrated with practical examples. You'll come away knowing the appropriate classification and design methodology for any type of non-building structure. The seminar will be held July 25 and 26 in St. Louis, Mo., and Sept. 19 and 20 in Boston. Get details and register at the course page.
