Damage from superstorm Sandy could top $20 billion
Superstorm Sandy could result in $10 billion to more than $20 billion in damage, according to some experts. More than 6 million people are without power. In New York City, flooding was reported at two commuter tunnels and a fire in Queens destroyed an entire block. A 13-foot storm surge had seawater pouring into the World Trade Center's construction pit. "We knew that this was going to be a very dangerous storm and the storm has met our expectations," New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said. "This is a once-in-a-long-time storm."
