Report: Duke Energy could need over $3B to repair Fla. nuke plant
Duke Energy could need to spend up to $3.43 billion to fix its troubled Crystal River nuclear plant in Florida, according to a study from Zapata. That worst-case scenario would include replacing the dome of the plant as well as the walls of the containment building. A decision about whether to shut down the plant permanently or repair it would hinge on "the final analysis," said Alex Glenn, president of Progress Energy Florida.
