US Airways to cut 1,000 jobs, focus on 4 core markets

By the end of next year, 99% of US Airways flights will be to or from just four cities as the carrier attempts to reverse a $2.3 billion loss in 2008. Boston, Las Vegas, New York and Europe will be the major losers as US Airways focuses on its hubs in Philadelphia, Phoenix and Charlotte, plus Washington, D.C. As many as 1,000 jobs could be lost, the airline said.
