Ind. lawmakers urged to let energy sources compete
The Indiana Power of Wind coalition is urging state lawmakers to adopt legislation proposing to have an independent entity consider all sources of energy in the procurement process, allowing wind power and natural gas to compete with other sources. Under the proposal, plans by utilities to purchase new capacity would be forwarded to an independent administrator that would issue a request for proposals. "We want competitive procurement for all forms of energy," said a lobbyist for the coalition.
