Report: Wind power is good for Ore.'s air, water resources
The environmental benefits of Oregon's wind power industry are equal to eliminating 550,000 vehicles from the streets annually, according to a report from Environment Oregon. Aside from being less polluting than fossil fuel-burning power plants, wind farms consume virtually no water, the report showed. In 2011, wind power production in Oregon cut more than 3 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions and saved more than a billion gallons of water, the report found.
