BP to ramp up biofuel production in coming years, exec says

Philip New, CEO of BP Biofuels, said the company and its partner Verenium could make grass-derived ethanol for commercial consumption in the U.S. as early as next year. BP also plans to start commercial production of biobutanol by 2012 or 2013 at its proposed U.K. facility, which is expected to become operational in 2010, he added.
