Merck is shopping for biotech deals, CEO says
Merck & Co. is "actively looking" to partner with or acquire biotech companies valued at "single-digit" billions of dollars, although a takeover similar to its purchase of Schering-Plough is "off the table right now," CEO Richard Clark said. The drugmaker will first review the Merck-Schering pipeline before deciding on therapeutic areas in which to expand, Clark said.
