Chinese hackers penetrate major U.S. newspapers' computer systems
The Wall Street Journal's and The New York Times' computer systems were infiltrated by Chinese hackers, possibly with government backing. The objective of the effort, which may include other U.S. media companies, appears to be monitoring of reporting on China and other subjects. In particular, authorities may be trying to identify sources who speak to Western reporters.
