Western Digital reportedly bids on Fujitsu hard drive business

Western Digital reportedly has made a bid for Fujitsu's hard disk drive assets for an undisclosed amount, although analysts estimate it could be between $600 million to a bit less than $1 billion. "There are strategic advantages that WD would gain in such an acquisition for themselves in terms of marketing, positioning and competitiveness in an increasing number of [HDD] markets," said Tom Coughlin, president of Coughlin & Associates.
