Apple will release quarterly earnings today amid fresh concerns stemming from the inclusion of many less expensive older iPhone models among the 6.2 million activations Verizon Wireless reported Tuesday. Carriers have had the ability in recent years to discount the costs of older iPhones. "You had a very low entry point for people to come in on an iPhone that quite honestly never had that ability on the Verizon Wireless network before. It is a price-point issue for consumers," said Fran Shammo, Verizon Communications' chief financial officer.
