Rob Engle of Sony Pictures Imageworks in his keynote address at the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers' Tech Conference and Expo said the industry had a unique opportunity to influence entertainment if it can take a leading role in the development of 3-D technologies for the home. "It really is a new medium," he said. "If the technologists and consumer-electronics makers come together to produce good content and present it in a good format, we really have the power to change how entertainment is perceived."
