HP profit still is up despite an EDS lawsuit-prompted revision

Despite a legal issue tied to its 2008 purchase of Electronic Data Systems that required revising its fiscal first-quarter earnings ended Jan. 31, Hewlett-Packard reported a profit of $2.25 billion, a healthy increase over a profit of $1.86 billion a year earlier. EDS is in court over a CRM system deal it made with a British TV broadcast group, and HP is hoping to appeal a court decision regarding a court-mandated fine.
