Education is again on the edge of the "fiscal cliff"
Widespread cuts to federal funding, including education, have been spared -- at least temporarily -- by a last-minute deal reached by federal lawmakers that, if signed by President Barack Obama, delays sequestration until March. However, the deal includes $6 billion in cuts to domestic programs, which could affect education. If signed into law, the delay means there will be fresh debate over potential spending cuts, as well as continued uncertainty for school districts.
