Autism expert ponders benefits, drawbacks to cure

As scientists learn more about the genetic underpinnings of autism, a prenatal test may eventually be developed and perhaps even prenatal drug treatments, writes Simon Baron-Cohen, director of Cambridge University's Autism Research Centre. He argues that autism and advanced math skills are intricately intertwined, and that curing autism may reduce the prevalence of future mathematical geniuses.
