Experts: Simple technology is often best for students with special needs

Teachers should use simple assistive technology to help students with special needs, according to two AT trainers who offered advice to educators on how to evaluate assistive technology products for classroom use. At a recent conference, the experts suggested purchasing computers with text-to-speech capabilities; using programs such as Microsoft Word that have recording functions to help students with composition; and using an Inspiration Software program that has a visual learning tool.
