Educator offers transition tips for students with special needs

In a speech at an Illinois conference on transitioning students with special needs to adulthood, Sandy Martin urged families to help their children who have special needs to set realistic goals for life after graduation. Martin, a recipient of the Council for Exceptional Children's National Iva Cook Teacher of the Year Award, said parents can help educators who face dwindling resources and an ever-increasing amount of paperwork to help students transition.
