Cholesterol levels among U.S. youths drop slightly, CDC says
CDC researchers assessed data on more than 16,000 youths aged 6 to 19 and found that the rate of high total cholesterol declined from 11% to 8% between 1988 and 2010. The findings appear in the Journal of the American Medical Association. One expert who wrote an editorial on the findings said that although the improvements are important, they may be outpaced by the impact of excess weight and pediatric obesity.
