Thomas Keller reflects on his father's last meal

In 2008, chef Thomas Keller cooked a meal of barbecued chicken, mashed potatoes, greens and strawberry shortcake for his 86-year-old father, who died the following day. The experience softened him as a chef, making him more patient as a leader and giving him a deeper appreciation of relationships and the messiness of life.
