Sen. Vitter prepares to become GOP lead on environmental committee
Sen. David Vitter, R-La., is expected to focus on chemical regulation, flood control, and oil and natural gas exploration as he becomes the ranking minority member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. He has criticized a bill intended to reform the Toxic Substances Control Act. "I don't think the bill that [Sen.] Frank Lautenberg [D-N.J.] put out is something that can ever pass the Senate," Vitter said.
